[vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]C\u00e4tlin M\u00e4gi is a leading figure in Estonian piping. A champion of the torupill<\/em>, the Estonian bagpipe, she is a charismatic teacher, researcher, performer and recording artist.<\/p>\n

C\u00e4tlin<\/strong> is a leading figure in the Estonian piping revival. Having first discovered the Estonian torupill as a teenager, C\u00e4tlin is now a full time professional musician and teacher at the Viljandi Culture Academy. She is also in the know of the musical thinking that has been passed on from generation to generation and has learned, on the basis of archive recordings, from the musicians who themselves learned their tunes traditionally \u2013 by ear \u2013 adding their own idiosyncratic nuances, variety and improvisational elements.<\/p>\n

C\u00e4tlin M\u00e4gi has played at many of the festivals in Estonia and abroad expecially bagpipe festivals like Piping Live in Glasgow and Blowout Festival in England.<\/p>\n
